Competitions WMoCA International Biennial Portrait Competition 2019
NOTE: This opp listing has expired and may no longer be relevant!
International Deadline: February 18, 2019 – The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art is now accepting entries for our International Biennial Portrait Competition!
We are excited to offer this new exhibit every two years to bring the best portrait painters from around the world to the heart of America. Serious venues for portrait and figurative painting are few and far between in the US. We believe this exhibition, as it grows, will rival that of the Smithsonian’s Outwin Boochever, in Washington, DC, and the BP Portrait Awards, in London, England.
This year’s juror is Margaret Bowland, Painting Instructor, New York Academy of Art, New York, NY.
Accepted works will be on exhibit at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art from April 9, through June 29, 2019.
The competition is open to artists, 18 years or older INTERNATIONALLY. Artists working in any 2D medium are encouraged to enter, with the exception of video and computer-generated work.
Cash Awards & Reception for the Artists TBA.
Sales are encouraged with a 35% commission benefitting the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art. As a condition of entry, the artist grants WMOCA permission to reproduce entered images for publicity and education.
